Novice,
Novice are the young that are in training within the renegades. They are essentially the future of the pack and have much to learn. A pup is appointed a mentor and the novice rank upon reaching around six months of age. A small ceremony is held for the process; varying between ranks. A mentor is there to guide, teach and actively help the youth into growing to their full potential. Promotion from the novice rank can happen at a minimum of one year of age. Having a novice rank that early however is highly unusual.
A novice is to accompany their mentor or another adult at all times if wanting to leave the pack's current camp. They're allowed to participate in hunts, but are able to watch and be excluded from the hunting rule. They active practice and take lessons on whatever rank their training under. Novices have no solid duties aside from learning and listening to their mentors. They may accompany them on patrols too or for gathering herbs. They are not allowed anywhere near any sorts of battles or skirmishes however. Novice are to be guarded in these situations and kept with the pups. Any novice that is older then a year however may join the fight in these situations if given permission. On occasion a assigned caretaker may ask novices to help watch and play with pups. A pup becomes a novice at a minimum of six months old and can be promoted to their rank at a minimum of a year. Most novice are promoted by the time they reach two years of age, but some circumstances do occur with novices being much older. This is typically done with new recruits that need training. To be promoted they must partake and pass their Ortus. |
